With it being the first week of the project, we first had to come to a decision on what the game would be. Loads of ideas were thrown out but we were unable finialise one. So to fix this, Guildford and Birmingham were split into 3 groups. Within these groups, we had to come up with an idea which we would then create a powerpoint to pitch to the other groups. Once all 3 groups had pitched their ideas, we would then have a vote to see what game concept we would go with. I was put into Group 1 along with 8 other across both campuses. Once everyone was put in a group we began coming up with ideas.

Very quickly, we decided that we wanted to do a turn based RPG, (Role Playing Game), where the player would be fighting demons inspired on the Boomer Shooter DOOM (1993). Through out the game, the player would come across different weapons which had their own abilities. With this decided i decided to contribute with concepts for the score of the game. With it being hugely inspired by DOOM, i thought it would make sense to have the soundtrack also be inspired. However, with this being an RPG instead of a Boomer Shooter, there would be a larger focus on the games enviroment. With this i also suggested that we have quite a few Ambient focused tracks to allow the player to further inmerse themselves into the world being created. For this i suggested the song “Rubedo - Lena Raine” which is from Minecraft and does a very good job of further showcasing dark and unsettling world of the nether. I also suggested that whilst exploring, the player would come across the darker areas of hell and we could showcase this through audio by making the score more distorted the deeper you went.

With all these ideas now in place, we then began putting them all together into our pitch presentation. Once our pitch was complete, we then took it in turns to present our idea to the rest of the groups. We were up first followed by the idea of a puzzle game with an Greek inspired artstyle then ending off with the idea of an alien based dating simulator. Once each group had pitched their concept it was time to vote

During this, we all had 10 minutes to put in our vote. To make things easier we would vote by process of elimination meaning that the two with the most votes would go through to another vote to decide on the final concept. Once the time was up, option 3 had the fewest votes so it was dropped and we had another vote this time between two ideas.

Just like before, we had 10 minutes to vote. Once the time was up, our Turn Based RPG won with 18 votes whilst the Greek Puzzle having 10. This meant that, our idea would become the concept for the project and for the rest of the week me and the rest of the audio partnered up to begin coming up with ideas. Finally, across both campuses we had to decide who would be lead for their pathway. After some discussion, i was made Audio Lead for Guildford and Jack for Birmingham.
